A wheel loader — also called a pay loader, front end loader or shovel loader — is the highest-utilisation machine on most job sites, quarries, grain yards and ports. • Match bucket volume to material density: grain, coal and woodchip need a light-material or high-dumping bucket; rock and wet sand need a standard or rock bucket with bolt-on cutting edge.
• Check dump height against the truck or hopper you actually load — high-lift arms add 700 – 1,200 mm and are far cheaper fitted at the factory than retrofitted.
• Choose the engine for your fuel and service reality: Weichai and Yuchai parts are available everywhere, Cummins suits fleets that already run it.
• Ask for a quick coupler if you plan to add log forks, pallet forks, snow blades or a grapple later.
• For used units, always request the 126-point inspection report, hour-meter photo, cold-start video and fluid analysis before paying a deposit.
