Hydraulic Excavator Buying Guide For Importers

Excavator selection starts with the trench, not the brochure. Operating weight decides the digging depth, reach and stability you can rely on, while undercarriage type decides whether the machine survives your ground conditions. We export mini, midi and full-size crawler excavators, plus wheeled units for road and municipal work, from 1 t to 22 t. Overseas buyers commonly over-buy weight and under-buy hydraulics; the sections below explain how to avoid both mistakes before a deposit is placed.

How to size a hydraulic excavator

Size classTypical applicationConfiguration notes
1 – 3 t (mini)Utility trenching, landscaping, indoor demolitionRubber tracks, retractable chassis, ships two per 40 ft container
3 – 8 t (midi)Drainage, house foundations, farm workBest balance of reach and transport cost
8 – 15 tRoad building, pipeline, general contractingSteel tracks, breaker piping as standard option
15 – 22 tQuarry loading, bulk earthmovingHeavy boom, larger pumps, higher fuel burn

Five checks before you place an order

  • Confirm required digging depth and maximum reach against your deepest planned trench, then add 15% margin.
  • Specify breaker and thumb hydraulic lines at order time — retrofitting piping abroad costs more than the option.
  • Rubber tracks protect finished surfaces; steel tracks with rock guards last far longer in quarry and lateritic ground.
  • Ask which pump, final drive and swing motor are fitted; branded hydraulics are the difference between five and fifteen years of service.
  • Check container fit: cab height, boom length and shipping bracket details decide whether you pay for a flat rack.

FOB quotation & shipping process

Ordering is the same for every machine we export. Send us the model, configuration and destination port; we return an itemised FOB Qingdao quotation plus a CIF figure within 12 hours. A 30% deposit starts production or reservation, the balance is paid against the inspection report, loading photos and the copy bill of lading. We handle customs declaration, fumigation, lashing, marine insurance and the CE / EPA paperwork required at your port, and ship by container or RoRo from Qingdao, Shanghai and Tianjin every week.
